It isn't misleading. Perhaps misheard or misunderstood. Or, sort of like when people who have been singing a song for years only to discover that they have been doing so with the wrong lyrics. By that time, they've always "known" that they had the correct words - meaning some people hear what they want to hear.

This "joke" gets posted at least once a day on the Paladins Reddit and it just isn't funny. First time is a cute play on words but people just constantly bring it up and as a gay person I don't think constantly "joking" about gays to be funny. Especially since multiple times a day you get people in this game using the f word or some other homophobic insult.
