@SNIper-poTAto and they need to put a diminishing returns calculator in the loadouts menu or something. So you dont have to think about googling it and searching through reddit posts to find a link to an old blog that you have to remember about for future reference. But instead of a second tutorial, a workshops/custom games thing like in THAT OTHER GAME. Learning what jumps are viable mid match is a bit of a hand ful, to the point that even after thousand plus hours, i find my self testing movement ability combos to try and get to a location during a casual match. But also having just a random aim arena match would be great. And other player edited match types. The hard part about trying some of these clutch movements out mid match is, its hard to tell if you messed up because it is impossible, or if you didn't time it right.

@AYYDIMITRI There are a few players I coached a bit before taking a long break. When I came back I honestly almost never lose in party with them and we aren't even using comms. Its crazy. What sucks is mechanically good players can be really hard to teach game sense to, because they can play shooters well in general so they get half decent scores. It blinds them of their true potential and they get mad when you try and suggest something.
Give more graphics settings please.
I recently was told about ChaosSystemSettings config file to fix a certain delay issue when it came to aiming well on characters like Evie. But while editing that one value I noticed tonnes of graphics values. And my brain lit up. Along with ChaosLightMass I edited tonnes of values to make the game look as good as it can look with the hardware I have and the engine limitations. IT LOOKS AMAZING. Every time I start a game now I walk around spawn looking at the eye porn that is the artstyle of this game. It only took me like thousand + hours to find out about this. Now my game has the graphical fidelity of Overwatch almost but with the Paladins artstyle. It looks great.
Why are the safe settings not in game menu? I had to spend like an entire day editing settings by group (so I remembered what I changed) and starting up the game to see if things were broken. I would go on characters in training ground and test their abilities to see if they were gonna break the game. then continued editing. SOmetimes I did break the game graphics.. This is why I think the settings that DONT break the graphics should be in a game menu so like that I dont have to mess around with a config file to make my game look good
You cannot make the baked in shadows like, the map terrain shadows, higher resolution I think. If you can I haven't found it yet. But I think they are BAKED in.. so they are not being rendered real time, so they cannot be changed. This is normal, i am just saying it if you feel like experimenting your self and you notice the shadows for the palm tree is not as good as your character model. The way shadows work in a lot of games and light, is some of them are like hard coded into the environment to minimize the amount of computing power you need to run it all. It is in fact a very good practice. To have higher resolution versions of these shadows the game files would need to have different versions of the same baked lights and shadows at different resolutions that it could draw upon depending on what the settings are. The thing is, everything to make said higher res versions of these lights and shadows are in the game and all they would need to do is re render each map at different resolutions and save that. So why not do it? I mean pretty graphics Let your artist's work shine in the modern age. Because it is great art and all that holds it back is low res lighting most the time.
It's not even like Skyrim or Fallout4 where the game art is just flat out ugly and requires you to retexture EVERYTHING to make it look good. No, 99% of the textures are beautiful in your game. The Level of Detail and the light settings hold it back. And they are literally just numbers in a text file for the most part. Or how high quality you made your baked shadowmap render. If you could also make two more renders of your shadow maps, one at x2 current settings and one at x4. Made them options, then everything would be spiffing ladies and gentlemen.

I love paladins I want it to be big and successful I think allowing people to use their hardware for pretty graphics will help in that endeavour

@SomeGuySomeWhere October 2019 had 20k + players on steam alone. What are you on about? That is how many players there are now days with all the consoles included and steam only has 10-17k players. It repeaked with the update. I hope we get a steady growth
Oh and this battlepass is 100% about wifu's and shit so MAYBE they were like OMG NO ONE BOUGHT THE DRAGONS MOAR WIFUs
And you know they werent 100% wrong but there is wifu and wifu. These Wifu's feel a lil forced but we'll see maybe they'll grow on me like default Io did (took like half a year to come to terms with that icky little thing)
Darkness and Dragons Recap
Looking at steam numbers I have been trying to work out why the hell we lost over 10000 steam players since April. And I realised that April 29 is when Darkness and Dragons was released. At first I thought the removal of kill cams top play was the thing, but people played through out that month. However the same month Darkness and Dragons hits we lose 10k players in a month and then slowly another 3k roughly around the time of the June political message. And you know what? I think it is because the rewards and skins in this battle pass were absolute trash. I got the pass just for extra chests and stuff.
I honestly think you were aiming way too much for kids, but like appealing to younger than teenager demographic with these skins. And thats not a target audience you want to aim for because they literally have very little agency over what they play or how often they play and how much money is spent. On top of that you gave Viktor a Dragon skin? But not Pip? I am sorry who ever is sat around that table making descisions doesn't play Paladins clearly or ever spend time on reddit or these forums. Everyone agrees Pip needs a new skin, its a meme at this point. Also Pip makes for a great character model to turn into a dragon thing. And imagine mini Drogo bouncing around with a potion launcher?! But no instead we have a crappy viktor skin. The voices for Khan and Viktor's skins also feel like very childish cartoons that try reallly really hard to appeal to young children.
So maybe that does have a role on why we lost so many players. Lack of motivation. Sands of Myth had great skins, a voice pack announcer thing. They appeal to the demographic of paladins which is 12-30 year old men mostly ok. Cute wifu skins. There was a vocal MINORITY of people who didn't like the furry skins and the Queen Pepper Card but these are the same ppl that called you "brave" back in June while not being there for you as players/customers. But even the non wifu skin skins are nice. The Tiberius skins look great and the Raum skins too. The sprays were pretty cool too and so was the frame.
I think the one good thing about this Battlepass is the Strix skins.. everything else was meh. And it correlates with when we lost a lot of players.
Other than the skins the other rewards also kinda sucked.
Stuff and things about queues and modes. And other things too.
I love Paladins, I really do. But sometimes I am done with the team play and the game modes. So I play deathmatch to frag out. But then its only TEAM deathmatch so yeah team based again. It would be lovely to have FFA death Match and 1v1 2v2 3v3s in maps like Throne/Primal court. At the moment I am finding my self playing other similar games to get that itch, which is fun for me, but not for the devs of paladins cuz it means I spend less money on them as before
From a pure business point, the more things you can do in your game with your engine/assests to keep us entertained, the more time we spend in your game looking at skins we want. The more likely we pull out di wallet.
Bring back top play, when you can make it work. Not having it makes it even less word of mouthy as people aren't gonna share top plays. Make it so we can save top plays like in Halo 3 and OTHER games I will not mention, so ppl can easily brag and show off their badass plays to make people wanna play. (I started playing Paladins more seriously BECAUSE I watched OwlyEagle's top play in the Hi Rez channels top 5 plays vid series, and I thought.. Man that looks really fun!) Don't MySpace your self into irrelevence over such simple lil things that aren't changes to the gameplay or balance etc etc but just great hype gen material to get people hyped to play your game. (Let's not pretend we are currently at an all time low on steam)
Right now the most effective method to play throne 1v1 is to insult a bunch of ppl in a match and challenge them to a 1v1. Someone will bite (I sure did) and then the guy was like sorry I do that so I can play 1v1 and then we 1v1d for 5/6 matches on throne. But would be better if we could just queue.I mean what I just described there is really stupid if you think about it even tho its kinda cute.
Last but not least, omg I had forgotten what is was to be able to run at normal every day shooter speeds until I played some other FPS's and then came back to Paladins and was like huh why am I being CC'd in Spawn room OH WAIT THATS JUST THE GAME.
I love paladins so much that I wouldn't complain before and honestly I am just saying this to try and make it a bit less meh to play sometimes. Would be great.
And by the way you lost most of us when you did that political statement. (Which happened in June) May you had 28,000+ players on Steam. June? Yeah.. 17,000 plus. July so far? 15000+ Even I was pissed off. Man I really hope we can bounce back I dont want to lose Paladins like I lost Wildstar. The Drop from June to July is probably because people are playing with their friends who aren't playing paladins anymore.
So. My advice? Calm down on consoles ok? Really not that many ppl. So bring back up the movement speed so its good first person shooter vibes for PC players. Even diversify movement speed and have the current speed as the slowest baseline for the slowest characters. More game modes in casual.. 1v1s Payload FFA, just random crap to do, with which you encourage ppl to play them for some crappy flair chest or whatever (maybe just for Battlepass players if you want to keep da paywall on chests which is fair enough) More self generating media value like.. make spectating and replay not absolute jank to use and top plays back (and this time savable as an MP4) In this meme viral cyber age, you are crippling your self by not catering to people who will share and make vid content of your game. THAT by the way is why everyone actually believed that your main competitor was better than you, because they simply had more access too more footage of that game vs Paladins, simply because the game is meant to be filmed and reposted. It's made for it. And it works. And it's the same media hype train and their followers who ditched your competitor, when your competitor became the new bad guy and they used you as a rebound while it was fun. Until you said that stupid thing that everyone hated. By which point, your main competitor had already taken DRASTIC measures to counter act their bad decisions followed by tonnes of constant google ads which is why I finally decided to give the game a go. I could have bought 1500 crystals with what I spent for it too.
Don't worry about seeming like your competitors, after all Halflife/Quake/Team Fortress invented most the ideas we have in Hero Shooters anyway. They also take ideas from you. Its just about making fun games, don't let PRIDE get in the way of that.
And never be a political mouth piece for the people you were, they will not be there at your side when you need them. They used you and left you dry with less players than you EVER had before. And what do you have to show for it now? Shame, and a crappy freegle.
And yes I was one of those hundreds, maybe thousands of ppl who bought Ameri-Khan during those dark days and we are probably why you made Freegle. I know, thanks for the effort but you missed the point. Most of us did it in solidarity of the values of the USA's constitution. Not to say we want more american skins.

PS I watched Wildstar wither and die as they failed time and time again to make it better. Don't be like that. Brutally honest here, but you don't have the same cult following Wildstar had which is mostly because of its Housing and Raiding which was unique. Wildstar as a universe still has a slim chance of revival, I doubt Paladins would if it got shut down.
