Lore (Frost Legion): A group of insane murderers and religious fanatics who worship the Monolith, a crystal of unknown origin. It is not known whether they worship because of religious beliefs or were enslaved by this crystal, or perhaps the Monolith is a hallucination and in fact the fanatics worship the God of Frost - Eugel, one of the few surviving ancient elementals.
The legion's structure is unusual. Instead of titles and titles, they have a different device. Legion recruits have the lowest rank, are treated as pets, and are referred to as dogs or other animals, depending on the past of the enslaved. If he / she survives and follows orders, then the legion is perceived by the fighter as a brother/sister. Brother/Sister - legionaries of the middle rank, they obey the orders of the Older brother/older sister, the commander of the legions. At the same time, they are subordinate to Father/Mother, important members of the legion (important doctor, general, fighter trainer, and other permanent members of the legion). The most important is Monolith, it gives orders to "fathers and mothers" to "older children", and they - to "younger". Although the legionnaires are mostly human, there are other races, but they are mostly enslaved mercenaries, merchants, bandits who are fugitives from justice, and travelers.
The Legion kills anyone who dares to enter their territory. Some kill quickly, others die horribly, and the fanatics punish them severely, as heretics who do not deserve a quick death. Moreover, there are those who are caught, but are not going to be executed, the fanatics enslave the prisoners, and they become one of the soldiers of the legion. Only a few were not killed and enslaved, the survivors tried to convince the rulers to fight the legion, but the survivors were considered crazy and refused to listen to them.
Few people know about the existence of the Legion, but no one knows about their goals, so most of the inhabitants of the realm consider them fiction. The legionaries have a goal: to send all inhabitants of the realm to the "true path", and those who resist, destroy the "heretics".
Life before the Legion
Liulfr was born into a poor family in a hunter village, his mother is a doctor, and his father is a magician, and also has an younger brother, Dagfinn.
Since childhood, his father taught him magic, but he was bored, because he did not like magic. Most of all, Liulfr wanted to be a hunter like his grandfather. However, his father forced him to learn magic, he believes that magic can help at the most important moment, and then Liulfr began to learn ice magic. After he passed the exam on ice magic, then his father takes him to a friend and this friend turned out to be a hunter. The father talked to a friend about his son's desire to become a hunter, and the friend agreed and began to train Liulfr.
The hunter talked about hunting, how to hunt animals, and what skins you can earn good money on. He also often takes Liulfr so that he understands how to hunt. He began training as a hunter at the age of 12 and completed training by almost 21, during which time Liulfr learned disguise, accurate archery, good dagger skills, and basic hunter skills.
When Liulfr became a hunter, he began hunting animals and then selling their skins to earn money for his family. He decided not to marry, unlike his brother. Dagfinn became a doctor, that is, he followed the path of his mother and helped everyone in need, either hunters, tourists, merchants, or even military personnel who decided to make a trip. His brother married a girl who turned out to be the daughter of a hunter. When his brother's daughter was born, he rarely spoke to him, although they spoke little to each other, one treating the wounded and the other hunting animals.
When Liulfr became aware of the new weapons for hunting, he decided to go there for weapons. Arriving there, he decided to buy a double-barreled shotgun and ammunition for it. Although firearms were common throughout the realm, they had only just appeared in places far away from the big cities. Everyone in the village was surprised by Liulfr's new weapon and wanted to see how it fired. Liulfr decided to show how he shoots with a shotgun. When he fired, most of them were frightened by the shot, one saying that it is better to get rid of him, and others - it is better to leave him to hunt better.
After the show, he went deer hunting. Uses a double-barreled shotgun along the trajectory of the bow shot. Hiding, shoots the deer from a distance, but it misses and drops the shotgun, falling to the ground. He gets up, picks up the shotgun, and is displeased. Instead of throwing away or selling the shotgun like the old hunters do, he decided to practice shooting with it. First, the residents were scared every time there was a shot, but over time, they got used to it.
Hunters neighbors were unhappy that his shotgun was scaring the animals they were going to hunt. Thanks to the shotgun, Liulfr gained popularity and fame in the village. Some residents respect it, others envy it, and others hate it (least of all). In general, the haters often started a fist fight with him.
Once, when he was successfully hunting a deer, he accidentally met a merchant, Liulfr immediately realized that he was in trouble and decided to save him. The hunter puts the deer meat next to the wolves and when they smelled the smell, the wolves ran after it and started fighting for the meat. Meanwhile, Liulfr points out to the merchant that it is necessary to bypass them and go to him. When he reached the hunter, the merchant thanked him for saving him and called himself Lycus. Liulfr takes him to his house and Lucus tells his story about how he got here and why he came. For his rescue, he offered the hunter to be a partner: for the sale of animal skins, he gives part of the income for this. At first, Liulfr wanted to refuse, because he does not want to receive in return, but because of the circumstances that are now happening (At night, before meeting with the merchant, he learned that his brother's daughter is ill and his brother is saving money for her treatment. The hunter agrees to help, but due to the small number of animals for 2 months, he spends more money than he earns.), he agrees.
Lucus has gone back to the big cities to sell skins, and he doesn't return to the savior until a month later. Liulfr and Lucus split the proceeds of the sale in half, then the merchant leaves, telling them where to find him. Until the age of 27, Liulfr worked for Lucus, i.e. the hunter gets the skins of animals, and then gives the skins to the merchant.
After that, Liulfr spoke to Lucus so that he could rest, but the merchant asked instead for a doctor who could help him and his guards. Dagfinn, when he heard that a merchant was going to hire him, was not happy, because he would have to distance himself from his daughter and he didn't trust his brother. Liulfr promised him to take care of her, then Dagfinn leaves to work for Lucus, until they see each other again.
The quarrel of the brothers came when Dagfinn's wife came to Liulfr to feel her husband's love, because Dagfinn is often busy with the treatment of the sick and wounded, that he sometimes does not even come home, and if he passes, he does not communicate much with his wife. Despite the fact that Liulfr tried to persuade her. However, he could not persuade her and spent the night with him. When Dagfinn found out, he was angry with his wife and his brother. Because of this, the brothers began to feud (Dagfinn hates Liulfr more than the other way around). And a couple of months after the beginning of the dispute, his wife disappeared in an unknown direction, Dagfinn began to accuse Lyulfr of her disappearance, and he replies that he does not know where she herself went and considers it a treacherous act to accuse his brother of something he did not do.
Before the hunter goes to them, he gave up hunting and began to care for her as his own daughter. Liulfr remembered his ice magic only after his brother's daughter asked him to tell her his story (how he studied, why he did not decide to become a magician like his father, and to be a hunter like his grandfather). He shows her the magic of ice and utilizes all of the spells that he remembered.
Liulfr took care of her until a letter came unexpectedly from the merchant. It says that Lucus is waiting for him to earn money, and also has a couple of guards and a doctor. For the first two days, Liulfr continued to care for his brother's daughter and looked for someone to replace him, and it turned out to be an old hunter who had not been able to hunt for a long time. The old hunter, Teacher Liulfr, agreed to help, he asked where he was going. Liulfr replies that he needs to help a friend. Liulfr leaves his native village, which is slowly but surely dying out due to the lack of people willing to live in a cold climate and a low birth rate.
Meeting with fanatics
Liulfr had been walking towards him along the familiar road for about a month. When Liulfr came to a merchant he knew, Lucus. The merchant is guarded by several mercenaries, one of them has a sniper rifle, the second was a magician, and all the others have bows and swords. The sniper was a dwarf, but the identity of the magician is unknown, because the hunter could not see his face and the magician hid it from him. The dealer himself has a gun, although he admitted that he never fired a shot. The doctor who is helping one of the mercenaries turns out to be Dagfinn, Liulfr's brother. He was not happy about this meeting. Dagfinn tells his brother that he would rather leave, as he does not want to see him. A fight between the brothers would have started if the merchant hadn't intervened. He told everyone that they should calm down and leave the arguments later.
The caravan goes to the city to sell something and buy necessary goods, such as clothing, food, etc. However, when they reached the middle of the road, they were attacked by the legion. The number of attackers exceeds the defenders by 4-8 times. When fanatics noticed that Liulfr was using ice magic, they thought he was lost and had chosen "wrong path". Dagfinn was the only one who was not killed or captured, because he left the mercenaries, the merchant, and his brother to their fate.
Fanatics take Liulfr, Lucas, and mercenaries who survived the defense to their lair. Most of the prisoners are sent to the cage, the rest - to the Monolith. A small number of prisoners were forcibly and painfully turned into legion soldiers, one of them being Liulfr. Fanatics carry Lucus out of the cage and carry him to the place of execution. When the merchant spots Liulfr, he asks for his release, but the hunter was under control and obeys the orders of the "fathers and mothers".
"Fathers and Mothers" gave him a task to test Liulfr's ability to follow orders. The initial tast were of the following type: hunting wolves, hunting another animals, etc. After completing simple tasks for him, Liulfr gets a new mission. If he kills an outsider and brings proof, he becomes a "brother" in the legion. Liulfr finds a stranger, hides in the snow, and thus merges with nature. When a stranger is at gunpoint with a shotgun, the hunter shoots him and kills him. Liulfr then takes the evidence and takes it to the Legion base.
After the hunter brought the evidence, they gave him a new task. Liulfr, along with the other Legion soldiers, head to a nearby village to expand the Frost Legion's territory. It turns out that legion is attacking hunter's village, but hunter himself does not remember this place. Hunter began to remember this place only after the attack, but the memories were quickly suppressed.
The last mission, which ended in failure and Liulfr was punished for it, was to find and neutralize the enemies. The number of those who dared to come to the legion's territory is unknown, but it is known that one of them was more like a huge worm. This mission was led by Father Hamburg, mentor of Liulfr. Hamburg's squad came across them while outsiders were fighting each other. On one side are two humans and dog, and on the other - a huge worm and an elf. The legionaries began to attack them, which was difficult for darkness and soldiers with dog. Mission ended in failure, with everyone killed except Liulfr. The hunter returned to base wounded and tortured. All fathers and mothers considered it a disgrace to be a legionnaire, only thing that can restore a reputation is death or "Suicide Legion". This legion is served by those who have received corrective punishment instead of execution. They had one motto: "We are fighting for the Monolith, we are dying for the Monolith!".
Liulfr knows that no one from this legion has yet left alive, but he does not despair and remains loyal to the legion.
Passive: hunter's flair - The hunter can find out the location of the victim up to 8 meters away, if victim has less than 60% hp and hunter stands in one place for 3 seconds. The backlight lasts for 5 seconds. (when highlighting the enemy, only hunter will get the location)
